Este #myplace es súper especial partiendo porque es el primero para Vibra_Magazine, pero también por variadísimas razones. La primera es que con Karin nos hicimos buenos amigos desde que la entrevisté para el especial de navidad, que sigue siendo uno de mis favoritos; también porque es amiga personal de la alucinante artista francesa @nathalie_lete, es decir, cumplo con la teoría de estar a sólo una persona de una celebridad. Y por último porque con Karin compartimos el amor por lo antiguo, en especial si se trata de juguetes y chucherías donde los likes y mensajes por DM van y vienen.

Y Karin ha creado un verdadero imperio alrededor de todo ello, su casa en Colorado Springs (EEUU) es considerado un museo de juguetes y maravillas, lo que la tiene constantemente saliendo en entrevistas de medios locales, y otras tantas al otro lado del hemisferio (sin ir más lejos en este home tour).

Karin es artista visual y hace 10 años que vive en esta casa de dos pisos representativa de los diseños coloniales de la zona, junto a –el listado es largo- su marido, 5 hijos, dos perros, tres gatos y un infinito ejército de tesoros seleccionados de ferias e internet que nutren su vasta colección de objetos y curiosidades.

De todo este universo, decidió dar rienda a su proyecto de arte My Whimsy and Wonder Artclub en español “mi caprichoso y maravillosos club de arte” donde artistas de todo el mundo dibujan, pintan, tejen o replican las figuras que Karin presenta semanalmente en un desafío donde la creatividad es todo.

“La casa queda en medio de un área boscosa a 8500 pies de altura en la parte occidental de los Estados Unidos. Nos mudamos hace diez años aquí y lo primero que hicimos fue pintar las paredes de blanco. También cambiamos todas las luces y ventiladores de techo. Las únicas cosas nuevas en nuestra casa son el sofá y los colchones de la cama, todo lo demás se ha recolectado durante los últimos 30 años de los mercados de pulgas europeos, el fondo de comercio y los mercados de antigüedades de USA”.

“Este hogar significa todo para mí. Amo mucho nuestra casa. Es un refugio. No me gusta pasar tiempo en la ciudad o en tiendas llenas de gente, prefiero quedarme adentro escuchando música, trabajando en proyectos de arte y tomando fotos. Mi hogar es tranquilidad e inspiración”.

My Place @karinwinterart

This #myplace is super special, starting because it is the first for Vibra_ Magazine, but also for a variety of reasons. The first is that we became good friends with Karin since I interviewed her for the Christmas special, which is still one of my favorites; also because she is a personal friend of the amazing French artist @nathalie_lete, that is, she complies with the theory of being only one person away from a celebrity. And finally because with Karin we share a love for the old, especially when it comes to toys and trinkets where likes and DM messages come and go.

And Karin has created a true empire around all this, her house in Colorado Springs (USA) is considered a museum of toys and wonders, which has her constantly appearing in interviews in local media, and many others on the other side of the hemisphere ( if going further on this home tour).

Karin is a visual artist and for 10 years she has lived in this two-story house representative of the colonial designs of the area, together with -the list is long- her husband, 5 children, two dogs, three cats and an infinite army of treasures selected from fairs and the internet that nourish its vast collection of objects and curiosities.

From all this universe, she decided to give free rein to her art project My Whimsy and Wonder Artclub where artists from all over the world draw, paint, weave or replicate the figures that Karin presents weekly in a challenge where creativity is everything.

“The house is in the middle of a forested area at 8,500 feet in the western part of the United States. We moved here ten years ago and the first thing we did was paint the walls white. We also changed all the lights and ceiling fans. The only new things in our house are the sofa and the mattresses on the bed, everything else has been collected over the last 30 years from European flea markets, goodwill and US antique markets.”

“This home means everything to me. I love our house very much. It is a refuge. I don’t like spending time in the city or in crowded stores, I prefer to stay inside listening to music, working on art projects and taking photos. My home is tranquility and inspiration.”
